LAHORE AUTISM INITIATIVE
Lahore Autism Initiative (LAI) is an organization founded, and led, by a mother on the path to finding a safe haven for her child and others like him. Founded in 2019, LAI’s mission has been to create an inclusive community to enrich the lives of neurodivergent individuals and equip them with tools necessary to live a life of dignity and acceptance.
ACTIVITIES AT LAI
There are several projects under LAI to cater to the needs of autistic children, including
- Lahore Alternative Learning Initiative
- Lahore Autism Centre
- School Outreach Program
- Dost Program
- Vocational Training Program
- Employability Skills program
- LAI Sports Program
- Community Outreach Program
Over the years many leisure activities have been organised with the objective of “inclusion” the star of which was a 3 month long athletic competition / marathon where children of varying abilities joined alongside neurotypical children from various schools.
LAI believes inclusion happens when:
- All children run side by side
- Families occupy public parks together
- Communities witness ability instead of limitation
